So I Didn’t Win The World Series.

Uncategorized No Comments »

So…. I just got back from the World Series of Poker and no I did not win. I did, however, realize something very cool. Vegas can be extremely relaxing if you do not spend the entire time in a drunken stupor! After I got knocked out of the tourney I went to the airport in the limo and surprised my wife. She was stoked! The we went to dinner at Dos Caminos in the Venetian and had some great table-side guacamole. In the morning we went for brunch at Olives in the Bellagio and watched the water shows. After that we spent about four hours at Canyon Ranch Spa..

Let me tell you about the spa. It is NOT a girl thing. I had a sauna, steam, igloo, herbal atrium, and an 80 minute massage. It was AWESOME! The we went to dinner at Emeril’s restaurant, Del Monico. Awesome shrimp, awesome table side ceaser salad, HUGE bone in rib eye. Yum!

Then we played a little blackjack and hit the sack. I actually came back rested from Vegas. Very strange but something I highly recommend trying. Will I do it every time? Doubtful. But nice to mix it up.

Cheers,

I have often been called a dreamer. I have also been called: weird, delusional, psychic, A.D.D. and other things. When it comes right down to it, I know I am simply a player. Now I don’t mean player in the “gangster way” or the “man whorish” way. I am married with two beautiful kids. I mean it in the enjoying life to the fullest way. I think that most people underestimate the things they can be a part of or accomplish. Here is an example:

I was at the store the other day and I heard this lady say:

“My father always said “If I could just go sit on a deck at the edge of the lake and breathe fresh air my I would give anything”"

The little voice in my head laughed and said ” Well, why don’t you go down the street and sit by the freaking lake then?”

Now this may be overly simplistic. I have no idea who this guy is. Maybe he has no legs or is on his deathbed or is allergic to lakes. Who knows? But that is not the point. The point is something that I constantly observe when people talk about what they want. They invariably put there dreams in a space they can never have. It is always a “one day” or “If I could only”.

I have NEVER thought that way.

I have been that kid, teenager, and adult who always had a “lame brained” idea and told everyone about it. You see, I have seen what happens when a dream is verbalized and then acted upon. Someone always has a friend or some lost cousin who can help me out. I always find a magic money source to get what I require. I NEVER let setbacks get me off track. They are just part of the fun.

Folks….this is all just a game.

Any idea you have is a good one. It just has to be acted out. Worst case scenario is you learn something from it and life stays exciting. Five years ago my goal was to play in the World Series of Poker. Within one year of focusing on it I was there. Time has elapsed and now I have a new goal. That goal is……

To WIN the World Series of Poker.

I am headed to Las Vegas right now and if you are there then hit me on Twitter  twitter/aaronparkinson I would love to hear about that thing that motivates you!

Keep dreaming!
